"Put the easel back!"
a cycle of creative classes on the history of contemporary art for schoolchildren

(classes are temporarily suspended)
From February 1, 2020, the Khodynka Gallery launches a cycle of Saturday creative classes on the history of contemporary art "Put the easel in place" for schoolchildren from 7 to 14 years old

As you know, many contemporary artists have not used easels for a long time, however, it is curious when easels became portable - this influenced the artistic thinking of various masters, and the history of art from that time period ceased to resemble a consistent chronological line.

We will not bore and retell the content of textbooks on art history. Instead, we will look into the work of different artists from the late 19th to the early 21st centuries, look at their work, collect funny stories about them, play around and fool around, asking different questions:

Why does Mona Lisa need a mustache? Or what is the black square silent about? Who came up with the prototype for the first cartoons? Why is air in a can also an art? Why was Georgina Starr sad? Can Thai soup be eaten at the museum exhibition? Why hang a real fruit on the wall instead of a picture?

Each new lesson will be associated with a separate author or direction, we will introduce everyone not only to the artists, but also try the technique in which they work / worked. We will draw and glue, assemble and fold, sculpt, photograph, edit, compose, in other words - create! And at the same time to discover new names that were not included in the generally known list of art history.

Classes will be held on Saturdays, from 12:00 to 13:30.

Schoolchildren need to have school cards with them.

Topics of the first lessons for February 2020:

- 1st of February. On the road with Claude Monet, or how to share your impressions without an Instagram account?

- February 8. What is the "world of art", or the adventures of Russian artists in Paris

- February, 15. How pixels appeared, or the optical experiments of Georges Serre

- February 22. Are you sure you can do that too, or how Henri Matisse surprised everyone.

- February 29. In pursuit of beauty, or why Gustave Klimt needs a microscope

Due to the epidemiological situation, classes are temporarily suspended, we will notify you about the resumption on the website and in social networks. Do not be ill!
